The Lord Jesus himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive“.Credit Cards

We know from our own experience that giving makes us happy, and usually happier than when we get.  So, why don’t we give more, more often?  Is it because we don’t believe what Jesus said (above)?  Perhaps, but even Non-Christians can see that Jesus was right.  Even Jeremy Clarkson can almost reproduce Jesus’ proverb above.  Similarly, Winston Churchill said,

  • We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give“.

As usual, our problem is that of not trusting God enough actually to do what Jesus said.

What does he say to us?

  • Malachi 3:10 ‘…Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

A number of people have asked how they can give money to support and help the work in Lee Mill.

The obvious answer is just to send a cheque to ‘The Treasurer‘ made payable to Lee Mill Congregational Church at this address:

Lee Mill Congregational Church,
Plymouth Road,
Lee Mill (Bridge),
PL21 9EA

If you are a UK tax payer, you may like to consider filling in this Gift Aid form and sending it with your cheque because this will greatly increase the monetary value of your gift.  We also have gift aid envelopes which help people make one-off gifts – just ask.

Another way of giving is to buy your books on-line using the Lee Mill book shop.

The astounding picture below is from the NASA picture of the day web site.  It shows two colliding galaxies, giving whole star systems and other material to each other.  It illustrates for us the glory of giving.  Take a closer look at God’s artistry by clicking on the image.  Take a closer look at the blessedness of giving to God’s work by, er, plucking up courage to do some giving…
